With the third week coming to and end, before I go any further I want to say that the skin on my dome and face feel fantastic! The Dr.Bronners, Soap Commander, Fuzzy Face Soaps, Queen Charlotte, Wolf Pac Shaving and Krampert’s Finest shaving soap do have a lot in common when it comes to natural ingredients. Not only do they share a couple of common ingredients such as Menthol and Peppermint, but also Coconut Oil, Castor Oil, Avocado Oil, Shea Butter and Glycerin. All of these natural ingredients if used on a daily basis, have a lot of qualities for your skin care regimen and shaving routine. I’ve said this many of times and I’ll say it again, skin care should be just as important as a good shave. Shaving causes a fair amount of trauma to your skin no matter how good your products are. It’s never to late to start taking care of your skin before its to late.
Some of the qualities these natural ingredients offer your skin are Antibacterial and Antifungal properties, a great skin moisturizer, Rich in protein keeping your skin healthy and smooth, tissue repair, helps to heal dry and cracked skin, is a natural exfoliant, can help with skin disorders such as eczema and psoriasis, can help the skin fight blackheads and pimples. These natural ingredients can serve as an insect repellent, A natural sunscreen and relieve sunburn, moisturizes the scalp fighting dandruff and encourages the production of collagen in your skin fighting the signs of aging. Yep!! these natural ingredients do all of these things plus so much more. One of my favorite natural ingredients is Glycerin. Soaps are basically made out of fats and lye. Fat already contains glycerin so when the fat and lye interact you get soap. Big soap manufacturers will remove the Glycerin and replace it with a chemical that acts like Glycerin that may cause skin irritation. A lot of artisan soap makers leave the Glycerin in giving their soap an extra moisturizing effect. Glycerin is also a Humectant attracting the moisture in the air to your skin and retaining it for extra moisturizing properties. A glycerin soap also produces a creamier lather and provides an excellent post shave end feel.
Soap Commander, Wolf Pac Shaving, Dr.Bronners, Queen Charlotte Fuzzy Face Soaps and Krampert’s Finest all produced a robust lather that filled the bristles of my shave brush with a creamy lather that spread evenly across my dome and face. The lather felt soft, smooth and luxurious on my skin. Each soap also provided a lather with a lot of cushion that enabled my razor to glide across my skin with nice fluid strokes preventing a lot of razor burn, cuts and nicks. Week three out of the six week menthol project proved to be a great week for shaving. I cant wait to see what week four is like. Love your products and you will love the results.
